Back in the day when Vilas Hall was still considered architecturally tasteful, it shared the block with two local businesses. Campus Camera and Charles Floral Company, neighbors to the newly constructed Vilas, appear as quaint foils to Vilas’ imposing brutalist silhouette.
Park Street also was once just a two-lane thoroughfare. As seen in the modern picture, these buildings were demolished to make way for the present four-lane configuration.
