One of the first things I noticed when I started college is most students lack a consistent sleep schedule. If you’re like me, you try to get to bed at a reasonable time, yet often find yourself wide awake for no particular purpose, usually into the early hours of the morning. This makes you even more tired the next day — and so the vicious cycle continues.
There is a lot of pressure on us to always be our best as students, friends, family members, employees, artists and so on, and this can cause stress levels to skyrocket, while hours spent sleeping decline. It’s a real struggle trying to find ways to communicate to the brain it’s bedtime and not the time for excessive worrying about our load of responsibilities.
Luckily for us, however, music has a way of influencing the mind and body to feel a certain way. So, here’s to all my fellow seemingly nocturnal college students just trying to achieve a solid night’s sleep for once. Lie down, enjoy the gentle catharsis and calm vibes that come with this playlist and (hopefully) these songs will succeed in lulling you to sleep long before the sun starts to rise.
