Last night’s Grey’s
Anatomy episode was anything short of exciting and rather disappointing
for the last episode until after
the holiday season. Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) and Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen
Pompeo) work together on a trauma case. While operating, Hunt and Meredith get
into an argument. Meredith explains that she does not believe Hunt is handing
Cristina Yang’s (Sandra Oh) situation with the right care. However, it at this
point when Hunt reveals that he does not believe Meredith’s reckless nature is
good for her either.
Dr. Derek Shepherd
(Patrick Dempsey) takes Cristina on a fishing trip, giving her a chance to take
a break from “thinking.” Although at first frustrated with the experience,
Cristina starts to finally feel recovered from all the horrors of the shooting.
Meanwhile, Dr. Teddy
Altman (Kim Raver) discovers a patient who is being sent home although in need
of critical care, but can not afford it, not having health or medical
insurance. Although Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) tries to get
assistance from the medical boards, there is nothing to be done. Except that
Teddy decides she will marry the patient so he can have access to her medical
insurance. So, it is likely we will be seeing more of this patient in the
future.
While Dr. Mark Sloan
(Eric Dane) continues to win over the affection of Dr. Lexie Grey (Chyler
Leigh), but Lexie is busy. She is competing against Dr. April Kepner (Sarah
Drew) and Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) in a contest for Dr. Miranda
Bailey (Chandra Wilson) to find a cure for fistulas, who has a breakthrough and
brings her all the more closer to finding her answer.
Wanting a break from
the wrath of pediatrician Dr. Phil Stark (Peter MacNicol), Dr. Alex Karev teams
up with Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) to work on a hip replacement. Callie
is also starting to recover from the break-up with her girlfriend Dr. Arizona
Robbins (Jessica Capshaw). Yet, who should knock on her door at the end of the
episode? Arizona. After spending time in Africa, she realized that all she
wanted to do was be with Callie. However, at this point, Callie refuses to
return back to something she has gotten over, and slams the door in her face.
At this point, we
have reached a halfway point in the Grey’s Anatomy seventh season, and the next
episode will not resume until after the holidays. In my opinion, it has been a
slow first half of the season, with a lot of focus on the shootings and how
people are recovering. This episode was especially dull in particular. The
preview for the second half of the season looks exciting, but only time will
tell.
