Following a late-January robbery of a Chase Bank on Madison’s east side, the FBI apprehended the alleged perpetrator and an accomplice last week.
Sarah Dupleasis, 23, of Stevens Point and Daniel Needham, 25, of Wausau are facing charges in the Jan. 28 robbery of Summit Credit Union in Sun Prairie and the Jan. 29 robbery of Chase Bank in Madison, a report by the Sun Prairie Police Department said.
The report states the two are being held in the Cook County Jail awaiting extradition to Wisconsin to face charges.
Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said FBI agents arrested the suspects in the Chicago area Jan. 31.
“According to our detective on the case, the suspects made some admissions to the FBI upon their arrests,” DeSpain said.
Surveillance footage of the Madison incident shows a woman thought to be Dupleasis in front of the teller at Chase Bank. DeSpain added that although Needham was not an active participant in the actual robbery, it is thought that he was party to the crime, acting as an accomplice in some capacity.
Dupleasis, before her identity was known, was thought to be connected to both of the robberies based on suspect descriptions. The Sun Prairie report states the investigation is still ongoing.
An unrelated incident at the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation Tuesday resulted in a suspect leaving empty-handed and, thanks to the keen observance of the receptionist, a swift arrest shortly thereafter.
Around 4:30 p.m. Jason Pritchard, 30, of Madison entered the lobby and began unhooking the 42 -inch flat screen television hanging on the wall, a report by MPD said.
Pritchard exited the building, followed by the receptionist who demanded the suspect bring the television back. According to DeSpain, the suspect stopped, turned around and dropped the television before fleeing to a woman in a waiting van.
DeSpain said the receptionist memorized the van’s license plate number and police were able to track down the van and stop it on Westbrook Lane, where the suspect was taken into custody.
