The Memorial Union Terrace will not close following a successful graduation weekend and will remain open despite continuing construction work.
The terrace has been closed since fall of 2015 for “renovations, including updates to accessibility, safety, and entertainment capabilities,” according to a Wisconsin Union statement.
Parts of the terrace will still close periodically to accommodate installation of new paving stones, but the work should not disrupt patrons, according to the statment.
“After experiencing guest traffic during graduation weekend, it was determined that Terrace construction will not significantly disrupt our guests,” Wisconsin Union Director Mark Guthier said in the statement.
Should construction proceed on schedule, the Memorial Union’s first floor will be open by fall of this year, while the second, third and fourth floors will open by fall of 2017.
The improved terrace will offer yoga, stand up paddle board yoga, family film nights and drop-in arts and crafts projects.
