The Wisconsin football team dropped out of the Associated Press’ top-25 rankings after their lackluster performance against Alabama last Saturday.
They’ll look to creep back into the rankings with a drubbing of Mid-America Conference opponent Miami (Ohio) this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Camp Randall Stadium.
Wisconsin junior running back Corey Clement, who saw limited action against Alabama (eight rushes, 16 yards) because of a groin injury said earlier this week he will play Saturday.
UW head coach Paul Chryst said fifth-year senior Michael Caputo, who suffered a concussion against Alabama, cleared protocol and can play Saturday.
If the Badgers open up a big lead, though, it will be interesting to see how the coaching staff manages arguably their most important players’ minutes.
Saturday will mark the first time Chryst coaches a regular season game as the head coach of the Badgers.
Miami (Ohio), 1-0
Miami head coach Chuck Martin is in his second season at the helm for the Redhawks, who are coming off a down year in 2014, when they went 2-10.
They’re already halfway there this season, as they are coming off a 26-17 victory over Presbyterian College, their first season-opening win since 2007. Quarterback Drew Kummer completed 14 of 19 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start.
Wisconsin and Miami have never met before. Miami isn’t unfamiliar with the Big Ten, though. The Redhawks took on Michigan last season and fell 34-10.
A weakness for Miami is their youth. Of the 110 players listed on their roster, 62 are either freshman or redshirt freshman.
