In response to "If a tree falls in a forum…" by The Badger Herald Editorial Board:

Editorial Board, The statements made about me in this piece are not justified. First, as a student member on the Dean of Students Search and Screen Committee that interviewed and went to lunch with these candidates last year, I did not feel the need to ask additional questions at the forum when there were many other students participating. Also, to publicly endorse a candidate, ASM members would need to vote for their favorite candidate at a Student Council meeting. Because not all Student Council members could attend the three sessions and one of our biweekly Wednesday meetings was not scheduled for this week, the endorsement is not feasible. I assure you that I advocated for the most student-friendly candidates through my involvement in the candidate selection and our final Search and Screen feedback meeting with the Chancellor and Provost. Thank you, Dylan Rath ASM Chair

In response to "Bikers' safety in jeapordy" by Gerald Cox:

as a person who bikes everywhere, and in fact works in a bikeshop, quit bitching. yeah it's an inconvenience, but imagine how much of an inconvenience it is for people who already have to walk longer to class than us to cross the street twice unnecessarily so that they won't slow you down. a simple excuse me goes a long way. amazing job perpetuating the stereotype that all bikers are selfserving assholes though.

In response to "Diversity blunders torment UW, Fox" by Sundeep Malladi:

Very nice article. The problem with Nass is that while he may be an fool, or perhaps a knave, his "formula" for "working" with the UW generates what precisely what he really wants – outraged votes. I understood him a little better when I realized that he is not really interested in changing or improving anything at the UW. In the end, he needs events or policies he can twist to his grandstanding purposes.

In response to "Voting for judges hurts candidates" by Jack Garigliano:

Oh, yes. The public shouldn't vote for their judges. They don't know what the hell to vote for. After all, it's not like we have any conception of justice in this country, let alone the state. While we're at it, why don't we just go back and allow the president to pick Senators. We are confused about the legislative process, we may as well let someone more qualified and objective decide.

In response to "Rehiring Barrett too risky" by Emily Friedman:

Wow, what a courageous stand. I'm glad we finally have such principled advocates for mediocrity in the face of a little controversy — now that's the kind of fearless sifting and winnowing that would make ME want to donate money to such an enlightened university!

In response to "'Sand-Storm' best choice for mayor" by Dave McGrath:

"As he was packing up his materials, Sandstrom also explained that the reason the Berlin Wall came down was not any action in Poland or anywhere else in the former Soviet bloc, but what Sandstrom had told people in Stockholm, Sweden." — cap times

As ridiculous as it might seem, I have admit to concur with Mr. Sand-Storm: providing mobsters with sweet rides could prove to be problematic and the Bald Eagle epidemic is definitely an issue that needs to be breached by more candidates.

In response to "Gary Tyler case proves capitalism is founded on racism" by Ben Ratliffe:

You losers that always post first at 3:14 in the freakin' morning about Ashok Kumar need to get some sleep and get a life.

Tyler would be better served by organizations that don't whore themselves the way the ISM does. Sadly, creditability is lost because ISM takes up this cause. If the facts add up this is a sad sad case. I just wish people used their energy towards this and not pushing failed ideas on how to fix a working system.

In response to "Mixed Messages" by The Badger Herald Editorial Board:

As a member of the band for five years I would say that Mr. Lorenz is a very good role model. Somewhere in the privacy of a bar or hotel things got blown out of proportion between two 30+ year old adults who happen to work for the university. When I was a student I felt perfectly comfortable sitting alone in a room with Mr. Lorenz. In my opinion this is just another incident of something being misinterpreted.
