Former state and U.S. Senator Russ Feingold will return to the University of Wisconsin campus as a distinguished visiting lecturer in fall 2018.
Feingold will be teaching a capstone seminar in the international studies program entitled “Negotiating Peace in the African Great Lakes Region,” or International Studies 601, according to an African Studies program news release.
The former senator is well known for his work to raise awareness to the sub-Saharan Africa as Special Envoy for the African Region. During his tenure, he helped end one of the most serious armed conflicts in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo history.

As a Distinguished Visiting Lecturer, Feingold will provide perspectives on current events by hosting public events and teaching special topics courses.
Students will be able to enroll in his class in the spring when registration opens.
