A victim ran after a man who had assaulted her, knocked him to the ground and called the police shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday.
University of Wisconsin’s Police Department arrested a suspect for charges of attempted fourth degree sexual assault and simple assault.
UWPD was called to Babcock Drive and University Avenue at approximately 2:07 a.m. They located a male lying on the ground and a female standing nearby, Marc Lovicott, UWPD spokesperson, said.
The victim told UWPD officers that the male assaulted her, Lovicott said.
The victim said she was walking when the male punched her in the head and ran off, Lovicott said. She ran after the man, knocked him to the ground and called the police.
After UWPD arrived on the scene they arrested the suspect, Lovicott said.
UWPD has completed their investigation and will refer charges to the district attorney’s office, Lovicott said.
