Pending approval of a liquor license, the Orpheum Theater will turn operations, management and concessions over to the national live entertainment company, Live Nation.
This switch will not change much for the audience. Wristband policies, two drink per person limit and fake ID confiscation will continue with new management. Live Nation has been booking shows at the Orpheum for the past two years, but now will be taking on a larger role.
Eve Paras, spokesperson for the Orpheum, said the change will benefit the theater by bringing the national company’s concert experience to Madison.
“[Live Nation is] the next step forward for the Orpheum,” Eve Para said.
According to the Orpheum’s website, the theater was constructed in 1926 to be a vaudeville venue and a movie theater. Gus Para bought the theater in disrepair in 2013 and spent $1 million to repair it.
A liquor license for Live Nation management will be reviewed by the Alcohol License Review Committee on April 20.
