What did you do this weekend?
If your answer doesn’t include setting fire to a toilet in a scorching tribute to the ancient gods of Lake Mendota, you missed out.
As observed on the Wisconsin Campus Snapchat story, some Madison students erected the breathtaking structure on Mendota’s frozen waters. Constructed of what appears to be porcelain, driftwood and wet towels, the Toilet Totem was lit ablaze by its makers in what appears to be a sacred Pagan ritual.
While the brave Badgers who lit this stunning ensemble are unknown, their valiant act touched many hearts.
The ritual represents the surrender of innocence to Balgor, the thousand-toothed serpent deity that lives beneath the waves of Mendota. The Ancient One must be routinely appeased with ceremonies like this to prevent the city of Madison from being reduced to ashes.
