Madisonians will have one less place to snuggle with a complete stranger after The Snuggle House announced it is closing “for good” in a Facebook post Friday night.
Open for just 22 days, the business charging $60 per snuggle saw negative press and a delay in its grand opening as city attorneys worried its services could result in prostitution. The Snuggle House said in a Facebook comment that it was closing because “the push back and harassment is not worth it, honestly.”
One of many commenters on the farewell post said they were disappointed and didn’t think the organization would “let the haters win,” but in response The Snuggle House simply said “let em win.”
“It has nothing to do with the services. It has to do with how much hate you want to tolerate. It’s not worth it. Not these days,” The Snuggle House said in a comment on its post.
The business said in the post it made the decision to close just two hours before the announcement and encouraged its 30,000 Facebook fans to “Snuggle on!”
