University of Wisconsin men’s basketball point guard Bronson Koenig was nominated Monday for the Bob Cousey Award, which is awarded to the nation’s top point guard.
It is the second time Koenig has been a candidate for the honor. He was also on the award’s watch list before the 2015-16 season.
Koenig shot 39.2 percent from the field last season, including 39 percent from 3-point range, and averaged 13.1 points per game on his way to leading the Badgers to their third-straight Sweet 16. He earned third-team All-Big Ten honors.
Koenig joins Jordan Taylor as the only other Badger to be named to the preseason watch list twice. Taylor was a finalist for the award, and former Badger Devin Harris was the runner-up in 2004.
