Ian’s

Judging by the small inebriated herd that forms inside of Ian's come bar time, there does not seem to be a better spot for a late night/early morning snack than the popular Frances Street pizza joint. A stop for a slice after hitting the town has quickly become a tradition on the UW campus. What sets Ian's apart from other restaurants, especially those of the pizza variety, is its uniqueness. Where else can two meals like macaroni and cheese and pizza be combined into one meal? Even the most sheltered freshman is well aware of Ian's famous Mac N' Cheese pizza. Fans of pasta on pizza can also try the penne and lasagna. Want meat? Then go for a slice of Steak N' Fries, Buffalo Chicken or Philly Cheesesteak. Those looking for a south of the border taste can sample the Spicy Beef Taco and Spicy Chicken Quesadilla varieties. The menu may not sound appetizing to some newcomers, but it is hard to argue with Ian's success. Slices are reasonably priced. They are not outlandishly expensive, but not fast-food cheap either. A specialty slice like Buffalo Chicken or Mac N' Cheese costs $2.75, and a piece of plain cheese or pepperoni goes for $1.75. For anyone in the market for a bar time snack, one slice will do the trick. The knock on Ian's has always been that it is not real pizza, as some prefer a more traditional pizza place to the concocted pies. While old favorites like cheese and pepperoni are on the menu, the bread and butter of Ian's will always be the previously unheard of.
