Don't blame this on the legislature. The UW just cannot figure out how to allocate money in a fiscally responsible manner. I don't hold it against them, nearly all public schools have the same problem. When you rely on the tax payers money, you tend to throw it at things that don't need it. Then when it tightens, you whine you can't have more.
… Absolutely blame this on the legislature! UW gets about 20% of its funding from the state. That's pathetic for a state university

Agreed. Free speech should be protected, whether improper or not. This campus should never become a place upon which people are fearful to utter anything inappropriate lest a fellow student overhear their impropriety. That is not to say foolishness should reign myriad, but it shouldn't be ostracized by an official organ of the University.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this president consider all human life sacred? Isn't he against destroying clusters of cells that could one day become human? Here's where the hypocrisy becomes apparent: The radical right, who reveres the Prince of Peace, is pro-war and pro-torture.
The US Supreme Court recommended Congress clarify the Geneva Convention provision applications to foreign terrorists. Why? Because extending Geneva Convention protections to illegal, non-uniformed combatants violates not only the spirit, but the letter of the Conventions.

mike, even though i'm now graduated and gone, i know that my friends and i completely agree with your views. we usually ended up drinking more at our apartment or going to house parties that our friends were hosting because the bars were absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time.
