The University of Wisconsin was once again named a “new Ivy” by Forbes Magazine amongst nine other public and 10 private universities in the U.S., according to UW News.
UW was recognized by Forbes for its success in preparing and graduating talented students into the workforce, according to UW News. The university was also designated as a new Ivy in 2024 for fostering top job candidates.
This year, Forbes analyzed how universities are navigating and supporting students through the rise of artificial intelligence in order to determine which universities would be honored as new Ivies, according to UW News.
Forbes surveyed more than 100 senior hiring and chief executives about how the emergence of AI has changed their perspective when hiring recently graduated candidates, and asked them to rate universities based on this criteria, according to UW News.
The results of the survey revealed a shift in the dominant outlook in business hiring that values institutions that have proved their stature through academic diligence rather than outdated characterizations of prestige, according to UW News.
Executives are prioritizing prospects that are able to use their nuanced human traits and intelligences to their operation of AI to enhance their work functioning and output instead of competing with it, according to UW News.
UW highlighted its RISE-AI initiative, which allows for cross-campus collaboration to advance AI research, and the opening of its new College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence July 1 as factors that set them apart in the decision making process.
UW Provost John Zumbrunnen said the university’s strong interdisciplinary partnerships with industries and professionals across the globe will allow them to continue their success in preparing students for the workforce, according to UW News.
