Wisconsin State Sen. Kelda Roys, D-Madison, announced her grassroots campaign to become the next state governor, according to a press release sent out on Monday morning. 

“With everything on the line, Wisconsin needs a governor who’s been training for this moment her whole career and knows how to deliver,” Roys said in the press release. 

Roys is a state senator, small business owner, attorney and advocate for women’s rights, according to the press release. Roys is also the Democratic Caucus Chair and youngest state representative in the Wisconsin State Assembly, according to the press release.

Additionally, Roys released a campaign video within the press release in which she states what she accomplished during her time in state government.

“We can’t afford to wait,” Roys said in the press release. “No matter who you are or where you’re from, you deserve the freedom to thrive right now — the best public schools for every child, quality, affordable health care for every Wisconsinite, good jobs that don’t just pay the bills but help you build the future you want.”
