The declining health of Barack Obama’s grandmother has caused the senator to fly to Hawaii, skipping some heartland campaign stops on the way. Of course, what Obama can do that John Kerry can’t is motivate people from outside of this close-minded liberal haven ([as Ben White describes](https://badgerherald.com/oped/2008/10/20/madison_culture_need.php)) to visit their state capital for a political speech.
