We all know St. Cloud is not a state.
Yet, the Huskies are ranked No. 4 in the nation at this point in the season and are ahead of the Badgers in the WCHA standings after downing UW 5-1.
With last night’s tough loss, Wisconsin’s need to win tonight is that much greater in terms of the WCHA regular season race and the Badgers’ No. 1 seed hopes in the NCAA Tournament.
Last night’s game turned in the second period on a big mistake by Scott Gudmandson, who tried to clear a loose puck, but ended up sending it directly to Garrett Roe, who then immediately buried the puck into a wide open net behind Gudmandson. Guddy said he wouldn’t do anything different when asked about it after the game, but the goal put SCSU up 2-1.
