Time of possession v. plays executed

TAMPA (MV) — Tennessee has been running a no huddle offense, and while it isn't to be confused with a "hurry up" offense, the halftime statistics reveal its cockeyed impact on the game thus far. The Volunteers' offense has executed some 37 plays, yet has spent only 11:58 on the field. Meanwhile Wisconsin, using a normative huddle, has executed five fewer plays despite running almost 50% more clock time.

While this certainly means Tennessee has proven efficient through the first half, it also reveals a Volunteer defense not afforded much rest thus far. If the Badgers are to execute the quintessential Wisconsin game plan in the second half, and pound the ball through the line, fatigue could certainly play a role as the game ticks on.

The halftime show is over and the teams are about to take the field. More to come when the action picks back up.
