Thanks to an illegal procedure penalty that negated a long P.J. Hill run, the UW drive stalled out near midfield. Ken DeBauche shanked a punt badly, and when the ball bounced back toward the UW line of scrimmage, he compounded his error by downing the ball. That elicited a 15-yard grounding penalty which sets Washington State up at the UW 42-yard line.
