Taylor Frankie Paul, widely recognized as the founding mother of not just her children but the TikTok subculture, Mom Tok, is once again being thrust into the limelight. And not for any positive reasons. A video of her committing an act of domestic violence, which was originally filmed and occurred in 2023, has recirculated after she was formerly poised to be the next star of The Bachelorette.
Now that her school-picture-esque, “Show us those black triangle bonded pearly whites” cast photo will have been taken for no reason as she is now just a bachelorette in reality and not on reality TV, one would think that she has been decisively cancelled. But, oh no, no, do not be led astray, because just like that pimple which pops up on your face despite having popped it a mere few hours ago, Taylor seems to stick around for the long run.
This cancellation of not only her second reality TV show streak, but her reputation, if there ever was such a thing, is also her second cancellation. When the video had originally arisen, she was done away with lickety-split. But, somehow, despite this rightful besmirchment, she persisted in being a foremost star on her hit TV show (which if you do not have Hulu you do not know is a hit), “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” Yes, the show proved to be extraordinarily important as being the leading example of how not to put in hair extensions in beauty schools across the nation.
Somehow this and all of the other notorious scandals which endowed her with the wobbly platform of ironic fame was enough to propel her into Bachelorette status. Even though one cannot help but to recoil in horror as to think of the men who would want to subject themselves to courting this woman after what she did, let alone having it aired on national television, the show seemed to really be gearing up. They gave her the rose to clutch onto for dear life (or dear fame, in her case) and stare with taxidermy-like warmth and all.
Just when she thought she was in the clear and would be rolling up to a sumptuous mansion in a vehicle which would make you think that somebody of great importance was riding as passenger, the show was deservedly snatched right from under her feet. But, one must stop to consider how she even got into that car in the first place? The video of her crime existed already, it had just blown over. If its original release and reception wasn’t enough to stop her from being the subject of reality TV romance for the nation, then one really must step back and consider how many chances pop culture figures are given.
For now, she is cancelled. Hopefully that remains the case. Also, hopefully in two years time, she will not reappear to serve as the leading lady on Love After Lock Up. Who knows, as the amount of chances she has been given equals that of when the ever so clever person asks the Genie for “more wishes” on their third wish. Only one thing is for certain: Good thing this aspect of her life was shown and is no longer something hidden in her secret life as a Mormon wife.
