While I couldn’t drop $3,000 or skip all my classes to attend Coachella this year, I have been experiencing one of the world’s biggest music festivals the modern way: through my phone. Instead of wallowing in my FOMO, I decided to channel it into something productive, outfits. Below are the looks I’d be wearing if I were spending the weekend in the Coachella Valley instead of Wisconsin (and if money were no object). Just picture it: I’m dressed perfectly, I casually run into Hailey Bieber, and we immediately become best friends.
Jéblanc top
If I had $2,400 to spend on the most impractical top imaginable, I’d get this Gold Body Bijoux by Jéblanc. I was inspired by Acquired Style’s look that incorporated a Jéblanc piece, and honestly, can you even call this clothing? It’s basically a wearable work of art. Since the top fully speaks for itself, I’d keep the rest simple with a mini skirt or jean shorts and a black bra top underneath. To finish the look, I’d add hair gems and a sparkly eyeshadow moment.
Silk scarf
Silk scarves are a must-have at any music festival, but especially at Coachella. The desert is notoriously dusty, so a scarf doubles as both a cute accessory and a functional shield against the wind. They’re also incredibly versatile. Wear one in your hair, around your waist, as a top or all of the above. While you can find great options at Free People and Aritzia, eBay is the real goldmine for the most affordable and unique finds.
Ankle boots
Yes, I know the practical choice would be comfortable running shoes, but dream with me here for a second. I’d love to go for a cute pair of ankle boots with a little flair, like these beige Free People boots on Poshmark. If you’re going to commit, go all in. I’d lean into the fringe with fringe micro shorts and a matching top.
Bejeweled skirt
The Rosalie Skirt by FWRD will likely live on my wish list indefinitely, but that doesn’t mean I won’t plan outfits around it. I’d style it with a neutral crop top and sequin hair accessories to tie all the sparkle together without overdoing it.
Huge sunglasses
If I were at Coachella, I’d obviously be famous, which means oversized sunglasses are non-negotiable. They’re perfect for avoiding recognition and, yes, protecting my eyes from the sun. I’d go for a chic “vintage” pair, like these Ralph Lauren frames on eBay.
