The University of Wisconsin reported a sexual assault that occurred around noon March 21 in a central campus building, according to a University Crime Warning email sent to UW students Sunday afternoon. The suspect, who is not affiliated with the university, and the victim knew each other. UWPD was alerted of the assault March 22.
According to the email, this incident was classified as a third-degree sexual assault, which may refer to sexual intercourse occurring without consent under Wisconsin law.
The exact location of the assault and information about the suspect was not disclosed.
The UWPD is actively investigating the incident.
