The Badger Herald Editorial Board is composed of four Herald staff members and represents the voice of our editorial department. Our purpose is to speak out and take a stance on the most relevant issues concerning the University of Wisconsin campus, the city of Madison and the state of Wisconsin.
Each member of the board is engaged with the greater campus community outside of The Badger Herald, and we strive to ensure we challenge ourselves with new perspectives.
If you have suggestions for topics we should cover or have a response to anything we write, feel free to send us an email at [email protected].
Following is this semester’s Editorial Board:
Kiran — Opinion Editor
I’m Kiran. I started working at the Badger Herald in the science news section my first semester in the fall of 2023. I moved to being a science associate before switching over to opinion last semester. I’m a junior majoring in history with a certificate in data science. If you have an idea or an opinion you want to voice, please reach out to me as I’d love to work with you to bring your perspective to the paper. You can contact me at [email protected].
Alexia — Opinion Editor
My name is Alexia, and I am a senior studying English Literature. The Badger Herald has been the biggest and most fulfilling commitment of mine in college, starting out in news and eventually switching to my current position as opinion editor. I am extremely passionate about humanitarian issues across the U.S. as well as internationally, and my goal as opinion editor is to spread word on topics I deem important. Most specifically, I aim to spread awareness across the University of Wisconsin on women’s health and wellness issues as well as injustices against the queer community. Post graduation, I hope to continue on this journey through publishing work in the big apple! Feel free to reach out to me for further correspondence at [email protected].
Sammie — Opinion Editor
I’m Sammie, and I am a junior studying journalism and political science. I have been part of The Badger Herald since my first semester of freshman year and have been an editor of the opinion section since my third semester until now. When I’m not writing I am either at a coffee shop or out walking! After graduation I want to become a foreign correspondent and spend my time traveling across the world and experiencing different walks of life. For any questions or comments you can reach me at [email protected].
Anna — Editor-in-Chief
My name is Anna, and I am the editor-in-chief of The Badger Herald. I am pursuing a major in journalism and certificates in science communication and photography. I have been involved with The Badger Herald since my freshman year, and I am a junior now! I previously worked in the news and science news sections as an associate and made my way up to section editors. In my coverage, I gravitate toward stories on environmental and social issues. My aim is always to report with empathy and uplift the voices of students in the Madison community. For anyone interested in contributing an opinion to The Badger Herald, please contact me at [email protected].
The Editorial Board serves to represent the voice of The Badger Herald editorial department, distinct from the newsroom, and does not necessarily reflect the views of each staff member.
