Stella’s Bakery is set to open the doors to its new Regent Street location in mid-October.
The new bakery will feature indoor dining, patio seating, outdoor games and a drive-through window for late-night customers, according to Stella’s Bakery President and owner Jennifer Patrello.
Jennifer Patrello shares what’s ahead for the local business as the bakery welcomes Madison’s students and families to its new location.
“Our current store location is so tucked away that we don’t get a lot of foot traffic,” Patrello said. “So, we wanted something more central — more walkable.”
Many people aren’t aware that, in addition to Stella’s Farmers Market stand, the bakery also operates a location on Madison’s south side, Patrello said.
With the mission of drawing in more customers to their new brick-and-mortar store, the walkability of the area will help bring in both local students and families, according to Patrello.
“We chose Regent Street because it is where local neighborhoods meet campus. I wanted to be able to target both groups along with the tourists that come to Madison,” Patrello said.
In addition to Stella’s signature spicy cheese bread, the new location will offer an expanded menu featuring coffee, sandwiches, pastries and will have late night-service, with students in mind, according to Patrello.
The new location will accommodate both dine-in and grab-and-go customers, offering flexible options for busy students, families and visitors alike, Patrello said.
“Everything is made from scratch — all handmade,” Patrello said. “This is what lets us produce really delicious products.”
Stella’s commitment to quality through homemade, fresh and preservative-free goods ensures that their business prioritizes craftsmanship, according to Patrello.
The bakery’s growth has been fueled by returning customers and ongoing positive feedback, which has built up year after year as Madison’s student population and overall community continues to expand, Patrello said.
According to Patrello, the joy and excitement Stella’s brings to its customers have become the most rewarding aspect of running the local business.
While the customer experience remains central, accommodating customers based on feedback will be essential moving forward — especially as the new location opens, Patrello said.
“I anticipate that we will have a vision of one thing, but then we might have to pivot based on customer feedback,” Patrello said. It’s going to be a work in progress, and we are excited.”
Stella’s Bakery is officially opening its Regent Street location next month with new menu items and extended hours, Patrello said.
