The Wisconsin men’s basketball team will host Wake Forest on Dec. 4 at the Kohl Center in the fourth annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Badgers and Demon Deacons squared off in the first-ever ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 30, 1999 with Wake Forest winning 67-48 at home. Wisconsin then defeated Maryland 78-75 in overtime at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee in 2000 and lost at Georgia Tech 62-61 last season.
The ACC defeated the Big Ten for the third year in a row last year, nudging ahead five wins to three. The two conferences have produced the last three national champions and 11 of the last 16 Final Four teams.
This will be the first CCC/Big Ten Challenge game held at the Kohl Center.
Other marquee matchups include a national-championship rematch between Maryland and Indiana, and a clash of conference-tournament champs Duke and Ohio State.
Wake Forest, the Badgers’ opponent, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament a year ago, losing to Oregon 92-87. The Demon Deacons finished in a tie for third in the ACC with a 9-7 record and were 21-13 overall. Senior forward Josh Howard, a two-time all-ACC selection, averaged 13.9 points and 7.7 rebounds last year.
The game will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
