The number of student visas revoked at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has doubled since last reported on Monday, when the university announced 13 affiliated students and alumni had been affected.
The U.S. government has revoked 40 international students’ visas at several Universities of Wisconsin institutions, including 10 at UW-Milwaukee.
As of Tuesday, there is no additional information on student visa terminations beyond these figures, according to Universities of Wisconsin Media Relations Director Mark Pitsch.
“We know of 14 instances in which student/former student visas were terminated at universities other than UW-Madison,” Pitsch said in an email statement to The Badger Herald Thursday morning. “This is a point-in-time figure.”
In an email statement later on Thursday, Pitsch said the UW System now knows of 15 instances where student/former student visas were terminated at universities other than UW-Madison.
As of Thursday morning, 605 student visas have been reported revoked across the country.
