Another University of Wisconsin student was the victim of criminal activity this weekend, adding to the list of recent robberies and assaults downtown.
A 21-year-old female UW student was robbed Oct. 1 on the corner of West Johnson Street and State Street. The woman was with a group of friends around 2:25 a.m. when the incident occurred, according to a release.
The victim was holding her purse by the strap in her right hand when the suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her purse. The suspect pulled the purse away from the victim with two hands and ran eastbound down Johnson Street, the release stated.
The student was not injured during the event.
The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-10, approximately 20 years old with blond, spiky hair. At the time of the robbery he was seen wearing a white shirt and black pants, according to the release.
The suspect is still at large. Any persons with information should contact the Madison police.
Two female UW students also were the victims of a robbery Saturday, Sept. 4, on the 600 block of North Henry Street and the 500 block of North Pickney Street. Both women had only their purses stolen in the assault.
They received minor injuries.
