The University of Wisconsin men’s and women’s track and field teams competed on the second day of the Alex Wilson Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame.
Junior Jon Mungen tied for first in the 60-meter hurdles in a personal best and provisional mark of 7.81. Senior Pierre Leinbach finished fifth in the same race in 8.06.
Sophomore Tim Keller ran a personal best and provisional mark of 8:09.80 to finish fifth in the 3000 meters. Teammates Colin Steele and Ryan Cole finished 19th and 20th, respectively, in the same race in 8:36.5 and 8:40.8.
Freshman Alonzo Moore won the triple jump at 51-1, while teammate Rick Bellford finished eighth in 46-0.
Other top finishers for the Badgers included freshman Gustin Smith, (fourth in the 60 meters (6.94) and 12th in the 200 meters (22.03)); freshman Jvontai Hanserd, (ninth in the 400 meters (47.85)); and junior Ryan Ridge (eighth in the 800 meters (1:51.57)).
On the women’s side, senior Cathy Ross finished second in the triple jump with an indoor personal best of 40-6.
The Badgers will send qualifiers to the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark.
