Protesters gathered at the Wisconsin State Capitol Saturday as part of a national demonstration against the policies of the Trump administration.
The protests were organized by the pro-democracy group “Hands Off!” The organization said over 1,300 unique protests took place across all 50 states.
It marks the largest instance of collective action during Trump’s second term, according to Hands Off!, coming just days after Trump’s day of liberation — on which he announced sweeping tariffs against 60 countries.
In Madison, thousands of individuals occupied the front steps of the Capitol and a large chunk of the latter half of State Street. Protesters held signs detesting the Department of Government Efficiency — led by the wealthiest man in the world, Elon Musk — and called for the defense of democracy, which many expressed is under attack by the Trump administration.
