Madison police arrested a young man Monday on several charges after he pointed a handgun at Cheba Hut employees last weekend.
A 16-year-old Madison male was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center on tentative charges of 2nd Degree Reckless Endangerment, Damage to Property, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Disorderly Conduct, Joel DeSpain, Madison Police Department spokesperson, said.
According to an MPD incident report, the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. Saturday when a man shattered the glass front door on the Gilman Street entrance of the restaurant after getting into an argument with another customer.
Cheba Hut employees pursued the suspect into an alleyway where he then drew a gun and pointed at the employees.
The suspect fled the scene and WiscAlerts were sent to students around 3 a.m., describing the suspect and warning people to stay away from the area.
A final WiscAlert was sent out at 3:43 a.m. giving the all clear for the area.
