A Madison woman was sexually assaulted early Sunday morning on the 500 block of North Henry Street, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
The assault happened at 12:40 a.m. when a man with a reported “bad French accent” approached the woman on the downtown street.
According to to report, the woman said the stranger claimed to be from France but only knew rudimentary French. The woman reportedly consented to giving the man a hug, upon the man’s request, when he reportedly grabbed her in an inappropriate manner.

According to the report, the suspect is described as male, white or possibly Hispanic, 5 foot 7 inches, with short and dark curly hair. He was also noted as wearing a black leather jacket and dark pants.
