Grey’s Anatomy returned last week after taking a small break, but the hospital is still as busy as ever with clinical
trials, a race for chief resident, and of course, romantic relationships.
Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim
Raver) receives a shock when her legal husband, Henry Burton (Scott Foley)
arrives in the hospital with a mass on his heart. Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh)
flawlessly performs the surgery and successfully removes the mass. Meanwhile, while
Henry insists he is starting to grow a true romantic feeling for Altman, she
insists their relationship is strictly business.
After having
previously agreed to go out with Dr. Robert Stark (Peter MacNicol), Dr. April
Kepner (Sarah Drew) is feeling a lot of pressure from her co-workers and
decides to break their date, consequently upsetting Stark. Dr. Lexie Grey
(Chyler Leigh) and Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) have started meeting in
the on-call room regularly, and Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dance) does not look
pleased with this arrangement.
The race for chief
resident has started and the medical residents are doing everything they can to
impress their superiors. Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) buys a trailer and
starts to live in the parking lot of the hospital. However, the arrangement
still has a positive when he attracts Dr. Lucy Fields (Rachael Taylor) to visit
him, and the two share a kiss or two.
Meanwhile, Dr.
Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) starts to delegate some of his
responsibilities and asks Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) to choose the next chief
resident. This situations makes Yang particularly upset now that it damages her
chances of earning the position.
Webber gets
permission to run a diabetes clinical trial but has more pressing matters on
his mind when he wants to get his wife Adele (Loretta Devine) into Dr. Derek
Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) and Dr. Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) Alzheimer’s
trial. After Adele reluctantly agrees to take the test to see if she would be a
candidate for the trial, she passes the test, but only by one point, causing
everyone to debate what would be the best decision for her.
Finally, Sloan and
Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) work together to throw a baby shower for
Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez). After all the stress of the party, Torres
decides to treat Robbins to a weekend getaway at a local Bed and Breakfast. Of
course, Grey’s Anatomy can not end with out a major cliff-hanger ending, and as
the two drive, Robbins takes her eyes off the road to propose and when she
looks back…crash.
Next week not only
will all the cast members team up to save Robbins and Torres, but it is Grey’s
Anatomy musical episode. The cast will be performing popular songs such as The
Fray’s, “How to Save a Life,” and Snow Patrol’s, “Chasing Cars.” It should be a
great musical event.
