The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team was fired up and confident for their Sweet Sixteen opponent, Notre Dame, after their win over Xavier just last week. Unfortunately, the Badgers ended their season with a final score of 61-56.
Men’s basketball: Badgers feel the sting of March, fall in Sweet Sixteen
The pep rally beforehand was held at Xfinity Live! Philadelphia near the Wells Fargo Center where the UW marching band, cheerleading squad and Bucky Badger were enthusiastically energizing the crowd for the big game.
The Badgers held the lead for much of the game, but they struggled to hold on to the ball and committed 17 turnovers.
The loss as the game slipped away from the Badgers in the final 19 seconds hurt, but reaching the Sweet 16 was an achievement in itself.
With Gard and many of his core players returning next season, the Badgers’ future looks bright.
