Add another honor to the ever-expanding list for Wisconsin junior guard Devin Harris. After being named Big-Ten player of the year and a second-team All-American, and receiving runner-up credit in the Bob Cousy point-guard of the year award earlier this week (to National Player of the Year Jameer Nelson), Harris will now be honored by the Milwaukee Brewers.
UW’s point guard will be one of four athletes from the state of Wisconsin who throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the Milwaukee Brewers’ home opener against the Astros this afternoon at 3:05 p.m. at Miller Park.
Harris is a native of Milwaukee and attended high school there at Wauwatosa East High School. He averaged 19.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Badgers this season.
Joining Harris will be Oak Creek High School defensive end Rhyan Anderson, a Parade High School All-American and Gatorade Player of the Year, Molly Teitgen, a four-time medalist in powerlifting at the 2003 Special Olympic World Games, and Little Leaguer Paul Puglisi. The pre-game ceremonies will begin at 2:45 p.m.
