It?s an exciting time in Wisconsin election history.

The Democratic Party presidential nomination remains wide
open, and the Republican primary still has some relevance. Wisconsin has seen a
last-minute campaign fury touch down in Madison several times in the last two
weeks. We hope our readers had a chance to see the candidates up close and
unedited, as television and YouTube sound bites are all many voters get, if
their state is not deemed a crucial stop on the campaign trail.

Last year?s mayoral primary turnout was pretty dismal, and
Madison election officials were scoffed at this year for initially ordering
enough ballots for 62 percent of the city?s eligible voters, according to The
Capital Times. But as it became clear Wisconsin would no longer be an
afterthought to either party, and expected state turnout rose to 35 percent,
Madison ordered another 20,000 ballots.

It is especially easy for students living in our
university?s dorms to vote ? on the west side of Lakeshore, just bring your ID
and wander down to the basement of Frank?s after your meal; in Sellery and
Witte, to Gordon Commons; in Ogg or Smith to the Doyle Administration Building
by the Kohl Center; and all other dorm residents, head to the Union. If you do not
live on campus, find your polling place on page 6 of today?s paper or by going
to http://www.ci.madison.wi.us/clerk/voterWhere.cfm. Polls will be open from 7a.m. to 8 p.m.

Today, let?s make our city worried that they didn?t order a
ballot for every eligible resident.
