A parked car burst into flames and damaged two unmarked police cars late Monday morning outside of the City County Building.
According to a Madison Police Department incident report:
A man who had recently moved to Madison parked his car outside of the City County Building when it began to smolder. The man said he was in the process of moving into his new apartment when he noticed the smoke.

Before the car was entirely engulfed, the owner was able to retrieve his belongings. He said he recently purchased the car through Craigslist and had not yet contacted his insurance company.
Two parked unmarked squad cars were damaged before the blaze was extinguished.
