Police apprehended Kiel Aaron early Monday after he harassed a woman on the 1300 block of East Washington Avenue while claiming to be a police officer.
According to a Madison Police Department incident report:
Aaron allegedly approached the 28-year-old victim in her car, identified himself as a police officer and demanded she roll the window down. A second man approached the vehicle, at which point she dialed 911 and the two were later detained in the nearby area.
The victim said she had pulled into a parking lot on her way to work when Aaron approached her driver’s side window holding a plastic bag and wearing a leather jacket. He said he was a police officer and asked that she roll down the window.
The victim told Aaron she was not convinced of his identity, after which he declared that she was resisting arrest and his friend was going to arrest her. She called 911 and the men ran away.
Aaron was arrested for impersonating a police officer while his accomplice was cited for disorderly conduct.
MPD spokesperson Joel DeSpain said there had been similar cases in the past but said he did not have any reason to believe the cases to be related.
