Although Freakfest has become a staple of Madison’s Halloween traditions, the city offers a wide array of other events to make the most of your weekend.
Monster’s Ball–Oct. 25, 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Monster’s Ball is a Halloween party hosted by the Wisconsin Black Student Union, the Filipino American Student Organization and Sex Out Loud. It offers a safe, inclusive environment for students and provides free candy and condoms for attendees. The Ball will be held at Tripp Commons.
Horror in the Dark at Olin Park–Oct. 25, 26 and 31, 7 to 10 p.m.
Horror in the Dark is a room-by-room haunted house, and its profits go to local charities. This year’s charity is The Road Home, an organization to help homeless families in Madison. It costs $8 per person and is located at 1156 Olin-Turvill Court in Madison.
Madison Ballet’s “Dracula Returns”–Oct. 24 to Oct. 26
“Dracula Returns” is a ballet that follows the classic Dracula story. The show, which is back in Madison by popular demand, will feature local artistic teams and an original rock score. The show is playing at the Capital Theater.
Summit Credit Union Haunted Hustle races–Oct. 26, Oct. 27
The event, which spans from a 5K and 10K on Oct. 26, to a full marathon and half marathon on Oct. 27, offers a running course through historical haunting sites in Middleton. They also offer cash prizes for the best costumes.
