A Whitewater man sustained injuries after someone hit him on his head early morning Saturday.

According to a Madison Police Department incident report, the 29-year-old visitor did not recall how he was injured and believed he fell down and hit his head. But surveillance videos told a different story.

Footage of the man walking in the 600 block of University Avenue showed him “pushing and striking” people until someone hit him on the head. The blow reportedly left him unconscious for a few minutes.

The man was treated at a hospital for some facial injuries and a knot on the back of his head. MPD spokesperson Joel DeSpain said MPD is currently investigating surveillance footage for more information.
