A man reported being mugged downtown early Sunday morning in the 500 block of West Johnson Street after he was getting late-night food.

According to a Madison Police Department incident report, after the victim, a 28-year-old male from Warner Robbins, Georgia, struck up a conversation with two men in the State Street area, one of the men suddenly punched the victim in the face.

The robbers pushed the victim up against a wall and demanded money. MPD spokesperson Joel Despain said the men only took the victim’s wallet. After taking the wallet, the robbers smashed the victim’s cell phone on the ground.
