All seven University of Wisconsin students studying abroad in Brussels, Belgium were confirmed safe following a series of bombings Tuesday morning.

The bombings left at least 30 dead and more than 230 wounded, according to the New York Times.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a bulletin released by a news agency affiliated with it.

Susannah Brooks, UW spokesperson, said the students were reached through official channels within their study abroad programs to ensure their safety. The university cannot release specific information about the students at this time.

“We’re not able to give out information about the names of students who are studying there … but we can say that all of our students are safe and we offer them our best,” Brooks said.
