Clay told officers the victim was yelling at him and accusing him of cutting in line at Toppers. The two men ended up outside, where Clay punched the victim once. Witnesses reported the victim was knocked out and hit his head on the ground.

Clay claimed he acted in self-defense because the victim pushed him first.
