Homeless man arrested for attempted assault of sleeping homeless woman

Suspect also found with marijuana, cocaine on his person upon arrest

A homeless man attempted to crawl into homeless woman’s sleeping bag and sexually assault her on the 100 block of State Street while she was sleeping Saturday morning.

Cedric D. May, 43, had attempted to solicit sex in exchange for money from the woman, who is in her early 20’s.

According to a Madison Police Department incident report:

Despite the altercation, she was able to get him out of her sleeping bag before an assault could occur.

May was later spotted around 3:45 pm on State Street, and ran from police. He fell while being chased, and was arrested. He had several individually wrapped packages of cocaine and marijuana on his person.

May was arrested for attempted 3rd degree sexual assault, solicitation, and possession with intent to deliver cocaine and marijuana.
