Two women robbed at gunpoint on North Blair Street early Sunday morning

Madison Police have yet to find two suspects in an armed robbery case that occurred on North Blair Street early Sunday morning.

According to a police report, two women were robbed at gunpoint on the 100 block of North Blair by two men, one of whom had a handgun.

Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said one woman’s cell phone was taken and the other woman’s money was stolen. DeSpain said the women believe the suspects may have been hiding in a bush in the area before approaching them, but police have not confirmed this.

“It is not clear why these people were targeted,” DeSpain said. “It was very early so it could have just been a crime of opportunity but we just do not know.”

The report said although the women were emotionally shaken, they did not suffer from any physical injuries.
