Police have arrested one in connection with a battery at State Street Brats that occurred early Sunday morning.
The 19-year-old victim said he was shoved then punched in the face when he turned around, according to an incident report from the Madison Police Department.
Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain although it is not known why the fight began, the victim reported he did not know the suspect.
DeSpain said the incident occurred in the second floor of the bar. The victim reported some facial injuries resulting from the blow.
Although the suspect fled the scene, a description was sent to officers immediately. Police were then able to identify and arrest 23-year-old Deonte Thompson for battery and disorderly conduct.
DeSpain cited officers’ speed apprehending the suspect to increased downtown surveillance as part of the city’s Downtown Safety Initiative.
