Man knocked unconscious during Gilman Street brawl

Madison police are searching for a suspect who knocked another man unconscious during a fight on the 400 block of West Gilman Street early Sunday morning.

Two groups of men were arguing when the fight began. Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said the dispute occurred before bar time and did not seem to have anything to do with the Final Four game.

Police said the suspect “sucker punched” the victim, knocking him to the ground. While the victim was on the ground, another man kicked him in the head.

The victim was brought to the hospital with a concussion but seems to have no serious injuries. Police have yet to locate the suspect.
