After responding to an overdose, police successfully tracked the purchase of heroin back to the source and arrested a suspected drug dealer Monday.
Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain said he is unable to give specific details on the investigation, as much of it must remain confidential.
“It would suffice to say detectives were able to trace heroin that was ingested to where it was purchased and they believe that was the suspect,” DeSpain said.
The victim’s mother helped him stay alive after he overdosed by following instructions from a 911 communicator on how to perform chest compressions.
The detectives said this is an ongoing investigation, and the suspect is likely to face additional charges against him because of the incident, DeSpain said.
