City clerk’s office predicts 16 percent turnout in Tuesday’s election

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, the city clerk’s office reported 8.9 percent turnout in today’s municipal elections, excluding one ward.

Employees in the clerk’s office said election turnout percentages typically double between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and then again between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The clerk’s office said the election turnout is expected to be around 16 percent by 8 p.m. when polls close.

The office was reporting about a 3.5 percent voter turnout at 11 a.m. across all wards but one. According to the city’s website, that percentage means roughly 5,913 voters had voted as of this morning.
